Nursery

Sunflowers is a purpose built nursery for children from 2½ years old, providing high quality childcare that is both accessible and affordable. We take a maximum of 30 children in any one session, enabling us to offer a high standard of individual care.

Our new facilities

Your children will be safe, cared for and stimulated in a modern, well-maintained and homely environment with close links to the school.

Our new nursery building was opened in autumn 2010 as part of the Foundation Stage redevelopment at the school. We benefit from fantastic indoor and outside facilities including:

  • A bright and spacious classroom, with self-contained children’s toilets.
  • A separate “quiet room” for play or small group sessions.
  • Zoned play areas, including areas for dressing up, wet or messy play, snacks, reading, writing and role play.
  • A fenced off play area exclusively for Nursery and Reception children, containing a gazebo, stage area, wooden train, climbing frame and sandpit.
  • An interactive white board and ICT facilities.
  • A kitchen area for the safe and hygienic preparation of snacks.

Learning through play

We want your children to leave our nursery with the confidence and skills to help them meet the challenges that lie ahead in the school system and beyond. We believe this to be a joint effort between the nursery, children, parents and other professionals involved in the care of your child and to that end we will promote the right environment for that partnership to succeed.

We provide an early years education as set out by the government's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which enables your child to learn through a range of play based activities.

Staffing

All our staff are full-time to ensure continuity for your child, and are CRB checked and hold appropriate qualifications. Staff training is ongoing to ensure that we keep up to date with the latest initiatives.
